Arts Alive! - First Saturday Night of Each Month
Want to know why culture guru John Villani picked Eureka as one of the best small arts towns in America? One reason is the Arts Alive arts walk, which keeps Old Town and Downtown Eureka up well into the evening on the first Saturday each month.
Between 6 pm and 9 pm, tourists and residents alike graze and sip their way along the waterfront, Old Town and Downtown sections of Eureka, where dozens of historic galleries and businesses showcase the works of highbrow and lowbrow artists alike. Schedule from the Northcoast Journal
The nexus of Arts Alive is the corner of F and 2nd streets, where one can expect to see the faithful accordionist on the corner and a regular rotation of hip rock bands in the alleyways.
By one estimate, there are more artists in Humboldt County per capita than any other county in California. If you visit Eureka during Arts Alive, you should have an easy time counting them as well as their admirers. Free entertainment and refreshments at many venues.
